Hong Kong Green Campus Project for Primary and Secondary Schools

Hong Kong Green Campus Project, initiated by a local government department, aims to transform over 500 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong into environmentally friendly campuses. With a total investment of over 100 million RMB, the project focuses on energy-efficient renovations. It involves monitoring and managing energy consumption of various loads within schools, such as air conditioners and lighting in classrooms, as well as circuits in dormitories and other buildings. The goal is to create sustainable and energy-efficient educational environments that reduce carbon emissions and lower operational costs.

    Customer Pain Points

Energy-Consumption Monitoring: Schools lacked effective monitoring and management of energy usage, such as air conditioners and lighting in classrooms, as well as circuits in dormitories and other buildings.
High Energy Costs: Schools faced high energy-consumption costs, with no clear way to identify and control energy-wasting equipment and behaviors.
Lack of Data-Driven Decision-Making: There was difficulty in generating energy-consumption reports to guide energy-saving decisions and measures.

    Acrel Solution

Acrel provided a comprehensive energy-management solution, including both hardware and software components:
    Hardware:
ADF400L Multi-Channel Energy Meters: These meters can measure up to 12 three-phase or 36 single-phase direct access measurements or 12 three-phase measurements through current transformers. They are favored for their high accuracy, centralized installation, centralized management, and high installation flexibility.
AWT100 Smart Gateway: Data Tranfer Unit, support 4G/WiFi/Ethernet/LoRa/LoRaWAN communication
    Software:
Acrel IoT EMS Platform: The platform provides real-time monitoring and analysis of energy consumption data.
It supports the generation of energy-consumption reports, offering data support for school management to make informed energy-saving decisions.

    Project Outcomes & Benefits

    • Energy-Efficiency Improvement: By monitoring and analyzing energy-consumption data, schools can identify energy-wasting equipment and behaviors, enabling targeted energy-saving measures and improving energy efficiency.
    • Cost Reduction: The solution helps reduce energy costs, achieving more sustainable operations for schools.
    • Data-Driven Decision-Making: The platform's energy-consumption reports provide valuable data support for school management to make informed energy-saving decisions.
    • Environmental Benefits: Reducing energy consumption reduces carbon emissions, contributing to environmental protection and aligning with the goals of the green campus initiative.
